Best Airlines for Cheap Caribbean Flights
From the United States
American Airlines, JetBlue, Spirit, Frontier all compete heavily on US–Caribbean routes.
- Spirit Airlines: Ultra-low-cost carrier. Fares to Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica from $59 one-way. Fees for everything else.
- Frontier Airlines: Similar to Spirit, competitive prices to major Caribbean destinations.
- JetBlue: More comfortable than ultra-budget, often good value with sales. Strong Caribbean network.
- American Airlines: Running regular Caribbean beach deals from $499 round-trip (verified sale). Covers Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Bahamas, Barbados, Aruba.
From Europe
Condor, TUI Airways, Jet2 operate charter-style flights to Caribbean from Europe. Can be competitive, especially as package deals.
British Airways, Virgin Atlantic fly London to Barbados, Jamaica, Antigua — look for winter sale fares (£500–£700 return).
Air Transat from Canada often has competitive Caribbean fares.
Cheapest Caribbean Destinations
Not all islands are equal for cost:
- Dominican Republic — cheapest overall. Punta Cana is highly connected with lots of competition driving prices down.
- Cuba — cheap when accessible; visa requirements vary by nationality.
- Puerto Rico (US): No passport needed for US citizens. Good budget options via Spirit/Frontier.
- Aruba — slightly pricier than DR but safer and more developed.
- Jamaica — middle of the road; Montego Bay is most connected.
Cheapest Months
- May–June: Just before Caribbean hurricane season officially begins
- Late November–early December: Pre-Christmas, lower prices
- January–February: Shoulder season for some islands
Expensive: Christmas/New Year, spring break (March), US school summer holidays
All-Inclusive vs. Independent Travel
All-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic and Jamaica can represent excellent value — sometimes $100–$150 per person per night including flights and accommodation when booked as a package through tour operators.
Independent travel to islands like Barbados, Trinidad, or the Eastern Caribbean tends to be pricier due to fewer budget flights and higher local costs.
